Intermission: A Taste Of Things To Come

There we have it.  Volume 1 of Vampire Love Songs, "Name Your Poison", is complete: click here to read it in full.  I will be taking a break from Seth and Mallory for the next few weeks to work on other projects, before coming back with more confessions and misadventures.  In the meantime, here are a few teasers for Volume 2, which has the working title "Beautiful Creatures".  (Spoilers for all chapters so far after the jump)

The last instalment, "Bad Kids", drew a line under the Billy saga and introduced a new character, Seth's wayward vampire daughter Lola.  She will be integral to the plot of Volume 2, showing what life is like for a bloodsucker who is younger and less jaded than Seth and Mallory.

Unlike other serialised stories featuring vampires (culprits include Buffy, True Blood and Twilight), VLS will not become populated with every other supernatural creature in folklore.  No werewolves, witches, fairies or zombies.

One new character is fond of quoting Shakespeare.  Another is a dab hand at card tricks.

René, the child vampire introduced in "Mother's Ruin", will make another appearance as Mallory's long and colourful life is illuminated.

Even vampires have urban legends and ghost stories that they like to tell on dark, stormy nights.

"Bad Kids" began with Seth and Lola parting ways in Prague.  The first segment in Volume 2, "The Green Fairy", will tell the story of how they first met.

The plotting in Volume 2 will be much tighter and more serialised, with less angsty reflection and more of the good stuff - sex, violence, and speculating on which famous figures might be vampires.
